Privacy Policy

How Capy Scan (the iPhone app) handles your information. This is the same policy shown in the app under Settings → Privacy policy.

Information we collect

This app doesn’t collect your personal information or usage data. It contains no advertising or analytics tools, and there’s no account to sign up for.

Camera and Photos

The camera is used only to scan documents. From Photos, only the photos you choose are loaded.

Text recognition and storage

Text recognition (OCR) and translation happen on your device. Images and text are never sent to external servers. PDFs you create are saved in the app on this device and leave it only when you choose to share or export them.

Contacts

Information read from business cards is added to Contacts on your device only when you choose “Add to Contacts.”

Face ID and notifications

Face ID and Touch ID are used only to unlock the app. This app never receives your face or fingerprint data. Notifications are used only to alert you to reminders you set on your documents.

Data stored on your device

Your answers on the welcome screens (what you want to scan and which app you used before), how many times you used Pro features during the free trial, and the trial start date are stored on this device only to adjust what the app shows. They’re never sent anywhere. Deleting the app removes your PDFs and these records. The trial start date, however, stays in this device’s keychain so the free trial can’t be restarted over and over.

Purchases

Buying and restoring Pro, and the 7-day free trial (a free in-app purchase), go through Apple’s App Store. Starting the trial is also recorded in your App Store purchase history. This app never receives your payment information.
